What it does

• Four engines, one event format: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Pi are interchangeable — threads, files, and memory carry over when you swap
• Every run is an append-only Postgres event log: replay any run, see who approved what, survive a restart mid-task
• Credentials never enter the sandbox: keys stay on the control plane, and every integration call crosses a trusted gateway as a typed tool
• Pluggable sandboxes: Daytona (managed), CubeSandbox (your own hardware), or Box — isolated Linux workstations with screen recording
• Work starts from web app, Slack, email, REST API, CLI, MCP, or schedules; native GitHub App handles clones and PRs

When to use it

The self-host answer to "just give it to Devin": hand research, a website, or a repo fix to an agent from Slack or the web, watch it work live, and collect the PR. Compliance-minded teams pick it for the replayable on-your-own-Postgres audit trail and keys-never-in-the-sandbox rule; teams already paying for ChatGPT can run Codex on that plan, and every engine also runs on API keys you bring.

Getting started

Hosted: no install — follow the "Use the hosted app" steps in the repo README. From source you need bun and Postgres 16+ with pgvector:

Things to know

Alpha software — the README says APIs and schemas can change between releases; pin a tag for stability. AGPL-3.0: embedding in proprietary software or OEM use needs a separate commercial license. Running a real task requires both a sandbox provider key and a model key, so the empty-state experience is more setup than most hosted agents.
