Tavily's official MCP server — production real-time search, extract, map, and crawl for agents.
The official Tavily MCP server, exposing the four tools the search API is known for: search, extract, map, and crawl. A hosted remote endpoint makes it a two-line setup in Claude Code or Claude Desktop; a local npx server covers stdio setups. The pragmatic default for agents that need reliable real-time web search with usage-based pricing.
Give Claude live web access: search current docs, extract article content, crawl a docs site. The remote endpoint avoids a local process; the npm package keeps everything local.
Remote via mcp-remote (OAuth flow):
{
"tavily-remote-mcp": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.tavily.com/mcp"]
}
}
Or key auth: append `?tavilyApiKey=<your-api-key>` to the URL. Local stdio: `npx -y tavily-mcp` with `TAVILY_API_KEY` env.Putting the API key in the URL means it lands in plaintext config files — OAuth is the cleaner path on the hosted endpoint. Search/extract calls bill against your Tavily quota; reset stored OAuth creds with `rm -rf ~/.mcp-auth` if they go stale.

Red Hat's "ripgrep for AI context" — a C++23 zero-dependency CLI that also speaks MCP.
One shared session memory for 25+ coding agents — Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor finally remember the same project.
