Stripe's official repo for building AI-powered products on Stripe. Includes a hosted remote MCP server at mcp.stripe.com (OAuth, payments/subscriptions/customers via Claude), the @stripe/ai-sdk for Vercel's AI SDK, and @stripe/token-meter for metering OpenAI/Anthropic/Gemini usage against Stripe billing. The successor to the former stripe/agent-toolkit repo.

What it does

  • Not a classic local MCP server: Stripe hosts a remote MCP at https://mcp.stripe.com with OAuth
  • Repo bundles @stripe/ai-sdk (Vercel ai SDK billing integration) + @stripe/token-meter (framework-free metering)
  • Official agent plugins: `claude plugin install stripe@claude-plugins-official`, `codex plugin add stripe@openai-curated`

When to use it

Two use cases: give an agent Stripe API access (connect to the hosted mcp.stripe.com server — no local process), or meter/monetize your own agent's usage with the SDKs. Most 'Stripe MCP' searches want the hosted one.

Getting started

Hosted server (recommended): connect your MCP client to https://mcp.stripe.com — OAuth flow, no API key in config, nothing runs locally. Docs: docs.stripe.com/mcp.

Claude Code plugin: `claude plugin install stripe@claude-plugins-official`.

Things to know

This repo is a toolkit collection, not a server you run — don't paste the repo into mcpServers expecting a process. Billing actions are real money; the hosted OAuth flow scopes permissions, which is the safer default.
