Notion MCP Server

Official Notion MCP server for pages, databases, and blocks.

MCP Serversofficialnotionproductivity

Official Notion-maintained MCP server for pages, databases, blocks, comments, and users. Lets Claude read and write Notion content with proper authorization scopes. Hosted service at api.notion.com.

What it does

  • Official Notion MCP server maintained by Notion — search, read and write pages, databases and comments
  • Authenticates with an internal integration token (`NOTION_TOKEN`); tool surface is limited to what the integration's capabilities allow
  • Advanced auth option `OPENAPI_MCP_HEADERS` for proxy/header-based setups

When to use it

The default bridge when Claude needs live Notion workspace data: read a spec, search docs, or file updates back into a database. Create a read-only integration if Claude should never write.

Getting started

First create an internal integration at notion.so/profile/integrations and connect it to the pages/databases you want exposed. Then add to mcpServers:

{
  "command": "npx",
  "args": ["-y", "@notionhq/notion-mcp-server"],
  "env": {
    "NOTION_TOKEN": "ntn_****"
  }
}

Things to know

The token inherits everything the integration can reach — scope capabilities down (e.g. read-only) in the integration settings. An integration only sees content you explicitly connected to it; new pages are invisible until connected.
