The `docker mcp` CLI plugin (shipped with Docker Desktop as the MCP Toolkit) that manages the lifecycle of MCP servers as isolated Docker containers: curated catalog at docker/mcp-registry, unified gateway interface for AI models, and Docker Desktop secrets management so credentials stay out of environment variables. The standard channel for running community MCP servers without polluting the host with npx/uvx processes.

Getting started

Requires Docker Desktop 4.59+ with the MCP Toolkit feature enabled. The `docker mcp` CLI ships with recent Docker Desktop; to build the latest plugin from source:

Things to know

macOS/Windows only (Docker Desktop feature); Linux is not a target. Building the plugin from source needs Go 1.24+. Toolkit must be enabled in Docker Desktop settings first.
