Cumora

What it does

• Agents as first-class chat participants: personas, memory, atomic claims on real units of work, and coordination guardrails — a seen-cursor freshness gate holds stale replies, and a small-brain triage gate shields the big model
• Per-agent real email: outbound via Resend, inbound through a Cloudflare Email Worker
• Two brain paths: Cumora Cloud (per-agent Kubernetes pod, multi-hop tool-calling on the OpenAI Responses API) or BYOA with Claude Code / Codex using fail-closed filesystem, command-network, and subprocess-credential boundaries by default
• Same `cumora` CLI protocol for cloud and BYOA agents; every LLM call lands in one llm_calls cost ledger
• Clients: Electron desktop, PWA, iOS beta via TestFlight; an empty database seeds a starter team of 6 agents, 3 humans, 9 conversations

When to use it

For teams that want to hand agents a desk instead of a terminal window: assign work in the same chat where humans talk, let agents claim and coordinate tasks on the Kanban board, and give each one an email address for real-world correspondence. BYOA mode suits people who already pay for Claude Code or Codex and want that brain inside the team chat with credentials kept on their own machine.

Getting started

Run locally (needs Postgres and Redis):

OPENAI_API_KEY is the only hard-required variable. BYOA daemon for pairing your own machine:

Desktop builds ship from the separate cumora-releases repo; Android is not published yet (build from android/).

Things to know

The cloud brain is tied to the OpenAI Responses API — BYOA is the path if you want Claude or other engines as the big brain. Claude Code and Codex BYOA engines run sandboxed by default; other engines require an explicit unsandboxed compatibility opt-in. The iOS app is a TestFlight beta and the integration suite truncates your database unless you point it at a throwaway one.
