An open-source proxy that lets Claude Code talk to alternative model providers (OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, and others) by translating the request stream.
What it does
- Route Claude Code requests to alternative providers — Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek, Kimi, OpenRouter, and any OpenAI-compatible endpoint
- Transformer layer translates Anthropic Messages to/from other API shapes, including tool calls
- ccr code starts Claude Code through the router; providers and routing rules live in ~/.claude-code-router/config.json
- Web dashboard for provider balances and usage
When to use it
Best when subscription economics don't fit the workload — route background subagents to cheaper models, keep Claude on the hard parts, or bridge regional providers into Claude Code. The standard tool for multi-provider Claude Code setups.

Things to know
Protocol translation is good but not lossless — Claude-specific features (interleaved thinking, cache_control) degrade or vanish on non-Anthropic providers, and tool-call reliability varies by target model. Validate critical workflows before flipping the default route.
