Browserbase MCP Server

Cloud browser automation MCP powered by Browserbase and Stagehand.

MCP Serversbrowser-automationcloudstagehandscraping

Run Claude-driven browser sessions against any URL via the Browserbase cloud. Pairs Stagehand's natural-language browser control with managed Chromium instances for reliable scraping and form filling.

What it does

  • Cloud browser automation over MCP — navigate, click, type, screenshot, extract data with Stagehand
  • Hosted remote endpoint `https://mcp.browserbase.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP) — zero local setup
  • Self-hostable via npm package `@browserbasehq/mcp`; supports model selection via `--modelName`

When to use it

For agents that need a real browser without running one: scraping JS-heavy pages, form filling, multi-step web workflows. The hosted endpoint is the fast path; self-host when you need session control.

Getting started

Hosted (no install): add to mcpServers:

{
  "browserbase": {
    "type": "http",
    "url": "https://mcp.browserbase.com/mcp"
  }
}

Self-hosted via npm:

{
  "browserbase": {
    "command": "npx",
    "args": ["@browserbasehq/mcp"],
    "env": {
      "BROWSERBASE_API_KEY": "",
      "BROWSERBASE_PROJECT_ID": "",
      "GEMINI_API_KEY": ""
    }
  }
}

Things to know

Browserbase is a paid cloud service — self-hosting the server still bills browser sessions to your account. Self-host mode needs a model API key (Gemini by default) for the AI-driven steps. Clients without HTTP transport can bridge via `npx mcp-remote`.
