Anthropic Agent Skills

What it does

• Anthropic's official Agent Skills repository — document skills (docx, pptx, xlsx, pdf) plus example skills like artifacts-builder and canvas-design
• Each skill is a folder: SKILL.md (instructions + metadata) with optional scripts and resources Claude loads on demand
• Skills activate by description matching — describe the task and Claude Code pulls in the right skill
• Same format runs across Claude Code, Claude.ai (paid plans), and the Claude API

When to use it

The canonical reference when you're writing your own SKILL.md files, and a practical productivity pack for office-document work — extracting PDF form fields, editing spreadsheets, building decks.

Things to know

Skills can bundle executable scripts — review them like any code before running, especially third-party ones. Document skills assume a Linux-style environment (LibreOffice for conversions); some workflows need WSL on Windows. Skill descriptions consume context even when unused, so don't install hundreds.
