Anthropic Courses

Official courses on prompting, tool use, and real-world Claude apps.

Prompt Librariesofficialcourselearninganthropic

Anthropic's official courses on prompt engineering, tool use, and building real-world Claude apps. Free, GitHub-hosted, with code labs covering topics from first API calls to multi-step agents.

What it does

  • Five courses in one repo, with a suggested order: API fundamentals, prompt engineering interactive tutorial, real world prompting, prompt evaluations, tool use
  • The interactive tutorial also ships an AWS Workshop version; real world prompting has a Google Vertex variant
  • Prompt evaluations teaches writing production prompt evaluations, not just offline examples
  • Tool use covers implementing tool calling in workflows with Claude end to end

When to use it

The default onboarding track for engineers new to the Claude API — work through it in order before writing production prompts.

Getting started

git clone https://github.com/anthropics/courses.git

cd courses
# start with anthopic_api_fundamentals/README.md
# (per the repo's suggested order)

Things to know

The README notes the courses often favor the lowest-cost model, Claude 3 Haiku, to keep API costs down for students — you can substitute other Claude models if you prefer.
