Claude Cookbooks

Official Anthropic notebooks for Claude — prompting, tool use, retrieval, and agent patterns.

Prompt Librariesofficialcookbookexamplesanthropic

Jupyter notebooks and code samples from Anthropic demonstrating prompting patterns, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, and multi-agent patterns using the Claude API. Originally named anthropic-cookbook; the canonical home is now anthropics/claude-cookbooks.

What it does

  • Anthropic's official collection of copy-able Claude code examples and guides
  • Organized by capability: classification, RAG, summarization, tool use, multimodal, third-party integrations
  • Primarily Jupyter notebooks in Python — concepts transfer to other languages
  • Points at the companion courses repo for fundamentals

When to use it

First stop when building on the Claude API: find the notebook closest to your use case (RAG, tool use, vision) and adapt it rather than starting from the raw docs.

Getting started

git clone the repo and open the notebooks; you need a Claude/Anthropic API key to run them. Python environment with jupyter recommended.

Things to know

Examples are illustrative, not production code — error handling, retries and cost controls are yours to add.
